Read: Hasselgren and Ørevik, (2020): Assessment and testing and Burner (2018): Formative assessment in English. Make sure you understand and can explain the terms: formative assessment, summative assessment, self-assessment, peer-assessment and formative feedback.

Remember to bring a copy of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian to class.  Please come prepared. I will take for granted that you have read the novel before class

post-reading questions before class:

•  What, to you, are the three most important themes and ideas in this story/novel? Narrow your list down to one theme or idea, and write a couple of paragraphs discussing the theme
• Characterization: How would you describe Arnold's character?
• Setting: Describe the two contrasting settings in the novel: The Spokane Indian Reservation and Reardan. 
• Listen to the interview in "The Absolutely True Diary module", where Sherman Alexie talks about his book.

Preparation: Find a text about a current issue that you think is relevant to discuss with students in years 5-10, e.g: Corona virus, Black Lives Matter, Indian mascots etc.

Choice of text: consider suitability  and relevance of topic, language level and pupils' interests, reliability of source
